Embed your Slido event or a poll into a website

With an embedded Slido event, you can connect with your online audience by allowing them to send questions and vote in polls directly from your website.
💡 Available in all plans.

In this article:

Embedding the whole event

You can embed Slido Participant mode into your website by following these simple steps:

  1. In your event, open Participant mode
  2. Click the three vertical dots
  3. Select Copy embed code and insert it into the HTML code of your website

💡 Example of the embedded mode

This is how the embed link looks. The part in bold varies and will be specific for your event.

<iframe src="https://app.sli.do/event/7q0zb4jq" height="100%" width="100%" style="min-height: 560px;"></iframe>

Adjust the size
If Slido is too small after embedding, you can change the height and width parameters of the iframe code to pixels and the size you'd like to display:

Original format:
<iframe  src="https://app.sli.do/event/7q0zb4jq" frameborder="0" height="100%" width="100%"></iframe>

<iframe src="https://app.sli.do/event/7q0zb4jq" frameborder="0" height="500px" width="720px"></iframe>

Embedding a Slido event with integrated video

💡 If you're integrating video with a Slido event which you wish to embed, we generally recommend embedding the two separately to avoid any potential technical difficulties.
If you anyway decide to embed a Slido event with video into a website, and you need the video to be allowed to go into fullscreen, you have to add either allowfullscreen or allowfullscreen="true" at the end of your embed link. Check the example below:

<iframe src="https://app.sli.do/event/7q0zb4jq" height="100%" width="100%" style="min-height: 560px;" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Embedded Participant mode
Here's the example of the above link (resized) and how it appears on the website. You can submit your question through this embedded view: the same way your participants would do.

🚀 Click the "Recent" tab on the top to see the latest questions. Feel free to ask a real one, we do reply to them!

Embedded Present mode
Once you submit your question, it appears in Present mode right away:

🚀 Click "Top questions" to change your view to Recent. That way, your question displays right under the highlighted one.

If you wish to learn how to embed Slido Present mode, please take a look at the following section of this article.

In the above event, we enabled Replies and Participant labels for Audience Q&A, which allows everybody to add comments to questions. Also, we turned on Ideas for additional feedback and suggestions.

If you wish, you can customize the colours of the embedded view. Feel free to click the links to learn more about the functionality.

Embedding Present mode

If needed, you can also embed Slido Present mode. For that, you first need to get the Present mode link:

  1. In your event, hover over the Present mode button
  2. Click Copy Present mode link

Once you have your Present mode link, use the following code to embed the Present mode into a website. The part in bold varies and will be specific for your event.

<iframe src="https://wall.sli.do/event/7q0zb4jq?section=40479392-8792-4683-b397-8162611d8208" frameborder="0" height=“100%” width="100%" scrolling="yes"></iframe>

If you want to see an example of an embedded Present mode, just check out the previous section of this article.

If needed, you can also adjust the size of this embed, just like with Participant mode.

Embedding a single poll or a survey

You can embed a single poll or a survey to your website to collect votes:

  1. Hover on your poll or survey
  2. Open the menu and select Share
  3. Copy Embed code

Quizzes can't be embedded as you have to run them live.

Embedding multiple rooms

Embedding a specific room's Participant mode includes several steps. You'll need to create your multiple rooms first, then copy their Present mode link, copy the event embed link, and combine them together at the end. Don't worry, we'll guide you through the steps.

Get Present mode link for a specific room

Before you start, make sure you created your multiple rooms. Then, follow these steps:

  1. In your event, go to the green Present mode button in the upper right corner
  2. Select "Copy Present mode link"
  3. Paste your link somewhere safe

To change the room, click the title of the actual room and repeat the above steps with the rest of the rooms.

Here's how an example of Present mode link looks. The part in bold varies and will be specific for your event and different rooms:

Get the event embed link

You can find the embed link under three dots in Participant mode on the left-hand side of your admin:

  1. Go to Participant mode and click the three dots
  2. Select "Copy embed link"

This is what the embed link looks like. The part in bold varies and will be specific for your event:

<iframe src="https://app.sli.do/event/y2uums64" height="100%" width="100%" style="min-height: 560px;"></iframe>

Embed a specific room

Once you have your room's Present mode link and your event embed link ready, it's time to combine them together.

  • Room's Present mode link: https://wall.sli.do/event/y2uums64?section=5afbb0e9-b5fe-4cad-a7f2-8a36dda17f33
  • Event embed link: <iframe src="https://app.sli.do/event/y2uums64" height="100%" width="100%" style="min-height: 560px;"></iframe>

To do so, add the part starting with ?section to your embed link after the event's URL. Below, you can find the final embedded link and the embedded view of Day 1: Breakout room A.

<iframe src="https://app.sli.do/event/y2uums64?section=5afbb0e9-b5fe-4cad-a7f2-8a36dda17f33" height="100%" width="100%" style="min-height: 560px;"></iframe>

You can cast a vote in a word cloud poll or submit a question. When posting a question, avoid words like "test", "hello", or a random set of letters as those will be filtered out by the profanity filter. To change rooms, click the room name at the top:

The embedded view will adjust to your website proportions. If you want to change the size, use your preferred dimensions in pixels to do so.

Pre-fill participants' data via query parameters

If you have pre-collected your visitors' details and would like to import this information into Slido, you can do so via query parameters

To get the final embed link for the Slido event, you’ll need to combine three components:

  • Event link
  • Query parameters
  • Additional options

Here’s a quick example:

<iframe src="https://app.sli.do/event/7q0zb4jq/live/questions?lang=fr_CA&user_name=John%20Doe&user_email=john@slido.com&user_company=Slido" height="100%" width="100%" style="min-height: 560px;"></iframe>
